Working Visit of the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin
The President of the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NBCCI), Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi, led a delegation of the Chamber on a strategic working visit to the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin in Cotonou as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and deepen trade relations between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The delegation was received by the President of the Benin Chamber, Arnauld Akakpo, who warmly welcomed the visiting team and expressed appreciation for the initiative to build stronger institutional ties between the two Chambers.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Akakpo thanked the NBCCI delegation for the visit and invited the President of the Nigeria–Benin Chamber to share the purpose and objectives of the engagement.
Responding, the President of NBCCI, Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi, expressed gratitude for the warm reception despite the demanding schedule of the CCI Benin leadership. He conveyed a message of goodwill from the promoters and Board of the Chamber and emphasized that the visit was aimed at building a strategic partnership with the statutory private sector institution in Benin Republic.
He noted that the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established with a clear mandate to promote structured engagement between the business communities of both countries, facilitate cross-border trade, and address economic challenges affecting the Nigeria–Benin trade corridor.
In his remarks, the President of CCI Benin, Arnauld Akakpo, expressed appreciation for the establishment of the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and welcomed the platform as a valuable initiative for strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Akakpo further highlighted that the Benin Chamber maintains collaborative relationships with several Nigerian Chambers and is committed to expanding institutional cooperation within the region. He also informed the delegation that a Business Club has been established to promote engagement between Nigerian and Beninese entrepreneurs and is already yielding positive outcomes.
The meeting ended on a cordial and optimistic note, with both Chambers expressing strong commitment to building a productive partnership that will promote trade, investment, and private sector development along the Nigeria–Benin economic corridor.
The visit represents an important milestone in strengthening institutional cooperation between the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin, and both organizations look forward to working closely together to support businesses and enhance economic relations between the two neighboring countries.
